You'd have been welcome, too.

@MM: BWAHAHAHAHAH! My nefarious plan for world domination through Border collies and Alaska-lust is progressing apace!

Srsly, dude. I'll take that trade you offered. As it happens, She of Wildwood will be overlapping the reunion almost to the day (her mom lives right there in River City with Tode et al, imagine!) So they'll both be invited to join us at the reunion. It's not the same as going to Wildwood, but I'm contriving to bring a little Wildwood to you. :)AKDDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10533003137934379516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6589783647802842771.post-43936821854742267592011-06-21T12:37:43.734-07:002011-06-21T12:37:43.734-07:00Envy.
You do this on purpose, don't you? Not ...Envy.

You do this on purpose, don't you? Not content to infect me with Border Collies, you're now trying to infect me with Alaska, aren't you..?

I will however, cross-tempt you:
Woodside Farm Creamery - more-or-less in Hockessin. Yes, it's just what you think it is... A dairy farm-based ice cream... parlor? No, that's not the right word. Ice cream *experience* is closer.

Farm-made ice cream. Open lawns. Families and dogs lounging, lolling, or just generally hanging about. Bluegrass and 'Old Timey' pick-up come-as-you-may jam sessions.
Jam sessions..?!

Oh, yes... Once impromptu, they've become a standing gig... All experience levels welcome. On Saturday last, in the Bluegrass circle, I counted at one point three mandolins, four guitars, a bass fiddle, SIX fiddles, AND a banjo (five-string). When I sauntered up, a nine-year old boy was working the bass fiddle - and I mean *working* it! Fully in the groove of the music, head down, toe tapping, left hand higher than his head to work the frets - Just totally lost in the jam.

The vocal part shifted 'round the group from voice to voice, low, plaintive, and compelling. The music shifted and morphed seemingly with its own mind, instruments coming to the fore and fading back and musicians joining or dropping at will.

In the middle of the circle, to complete the image, was a yellow hound, looking about and happily wagging her tail.

Oh, and there was ice cream.

I'll trade you a Wildwoods or house-handing party for a jam session. :)MaskedManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01847118110075039840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6589783647802842771.post-6806507829887733252011-06-20T21:13:33.843-07:002011-06-20T21:13:33.843-07:00Wow !!!!
